The successful Project Manager will work in a leadership role to manage project teams and support the firm’s key regional clients in the design of complex and innovative combined sewer, wastewater conveyance, and wastewater treatment projects. Projects may also include water distribution and storage, reclaimed water, and stormwater management. The successful candidate will assume project management duties under the direction of the incumbent PMs or Client Managers for select clients primarily in Northern Virginia and DC Metro area. As part of subsequent training, professional development and career progression, this role will have opportunities for increasing responsibility including client management and the successful candidate will contribute to the firm’s business development efforts. 


  • Client management, including ongoing communication of project status and presentation of project deliverables.
  • Project management, including oversight of design and consulting staff, scheduling, invoicing, and internal project reporting.
  • Business development, including task order development with existing clients and proposal writing for new client opportunities.
  • Engineering design and consulting for complex assignments.
  • Mentorship of junior project staff.


Education: B.S. degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering is required. M.S. degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in water and wastewater engineering consulting performing studies, design and construction services for municipal clients.

Certifications, Licenses: Professional Engineering licensure is required.


  • Extensive experience in the preparation of contract documents for water and sewer.
  • Experience in the study and design of combined sewers.
  • Familiarity with asset management concepts, including asset inventory, condition assessment, risk-based project prioritization, and capital improvement planning.
  • Experience developing and managing hydraulic models and GIS databases.
  • Experience managing and mentoring other engineers.
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills.

 Travel Demands: Mostly local to the DC metro area with infrequent regional travel.
