00583: Construction Representative (Alexandria, VA)

The successful Construction Representative will work to support the firm’s key regional clients in operations support and enhancing reliability of complex and innovative water, wastewater, and collection system projects.  The Operations Engineer will work in a team environment to inform engineering designs and reports for infrastructure renewal and optimization.


  • Coordination with both the internal project team and the client as needed to respond to project needs
  • Startup assistance of sewer interceptors and related facilities
  • Field investigations and construction inspection
  • Troubleshooting of pump stations
  • Condition assessment of process and buried utility infrastructure
  • Construction inspection
  • Preparation of field reports and other project correspondence
  • Mentorship of junior project staff


Education: Associates degree in Engineering or Management fields is preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 20 years of experience in the management and/or operations of municipal water and/or wastewater utility infrastructure.

Certifications, Licenses: Relevant construction, operations, and maintenance certifications, (i.e. NICET, PACP, confined space) are desirable


  • Extensive experience in the operations and maintenance of pump stations and other water and/or wastewater process facilities.
  • Experience operating fully-automated equipment and the use of SCADA controls
  • Familiarity with asset management concepts, including asset inventory, condition assessment, risk-based project prioritization, and capital improvement planning.
  • Experience using CMMS and GIS databases.
  • Experience managing and mentoring other engineers and technicians.
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills

Travel Demands: Mostly local to the DC metro area with infrequent regional travel.
