00725: Construction Inspector (NW Indiana)
Office Location:IL - Chicago
  

We seek a Construction Inspector for utility infrastructure inspection in/near NW Indiana area.  This position would involve inspecting the installation of water and wastewater underground utilities.  The Construction Inspector will report directly to a Construction Engineer.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspect Contractor's work for compliance with plans, specifications and client standards
  • Communicate with Contractor, Utility, Design Team, and Public regarding project status and address any concerns.
  • Review conditions in the field, anticipate issues, and coordinate with Owner and Contractor when conflicts occur.
  • Prepare Daily Reports and Testing Documentation per project requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: Associates degree or progressive experience in the field of water/wastewater infrastructure construction inspection.

Experience: Minimum of 5-10 years relevant experience in water and/or sewer main installation inspection experience required.  Knowledge of construction inspection for underground utilities and restoration required.

Certifications, Licenses:

OSHA 10 Hour Construction Safety Awareness Training preferred or must be acquired within 30 days after start date.

AWPA Certified Public Infrastructure Inspection (CPII) Certificate preferred

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge of water and wastewater utility standards for underground construction,
  • Ability to work independently and with team members, as projects require,
  • Proactive, sound, and ethical decision making,
  • Ability to manage work load over multiple projects, possibly in multiple locations,
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interaction with clients, contractors and the public.
  • Ability to maintain a calm demeanor.

Travel: 5-10 hours per week local travel
