00708: Project Engineer (Philadelphia, PA)

The Project Engineer will support project teams and the firm’s key regional clients in the design and planning of complex and innovative combined sewer, wastewater conveyance, and wastewater treatment projects. Projects may also include water distribution and storage, reclaimed water, and stormwater management. As part of subsequent training, professional development and career progression, this role will have opportunities for increasing responsibility including project management and the successful candidate will contribute to the firm’s business development efforts.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engineering design and consulting for complex assignments, including hydraulic and hydrologic calculations, utility plans, technical specifications, infrastructure condition assessment and rehabilitation, cost estimating.
  • Review of engineering designs, bid packages, RFPs, and Statements of Work prepared by others, as part of a program management role.
  • Participate in assignments as a member of a team, sometimes in a lead role in particular areas of expertise, including peer mentorship of design and consulting staff. 
  • Presentation of project deliverables to clients.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: B.S. degree in Civil is required. M.S. degree preferred.
  • Experience: 6-9 years of experience in water and wastewater engineering consulting performing studies, design and construction services for municipal clients.
  • Certifications, Licenses: Professional Engineering (PE) licensure is required.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

  • Experience in the preparation of contract documents for water and sewer.
  • Experience in the study and design of combined sewers.
  • Familiarity with asset management concepts, including asset inventory, condition assessment, risk-based project prioritization, and capital improvement planning.
  • Experience working with hydraulic models and GIS databases.
  • Experience working on a team with other engineers.
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills.

 Travel Demands: Mostly local to the Philadelphia metro area.
