00726: Construction Inspector (Washington, DC)
Office Location:DC - Washington (Field Office)

We seek a Construction Inspector/Field Engineer (entry level) to perform inspection services during construction and verify compliance with environmental, sediment and erosion control requirements. The Construction Inspector will be part of the Greeley and Hansen team supporting the DC Clean Rivers field office at DC Water. 

As part of subsequent training, professional development and career progression, this role will have opportunities for increasing responsibility in project management.

Monitor construction site to assess compliance with approved environmental controls 
Contribute in developing technical solutions and make necessary changes in stormwater pollution prevention plans as site conditions evolve
Attend periodic progress meetings
Prepare daily compliance reports summarizing conditions of installed controls
Communicate with Greeley and Hansen team members and Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) personnel on ongoing construction related issues
Compare approved permit drawings with existing site controls and conditions 
Review Contractor proposed modifications with team members
Help resolve construction related conflicts
Review contractor work to ensure compliance with the contract documents and regulations
Lead and coordinate groundwater sampling events using low flow sampling
Review and comment on environmental related submittals

Education: Bachelors of Science in Civil or Environmental Engineering required
Experience: Minimum 2-5 years’ construction experience in either designing or implementing/ monitoring Erosion and Sediment control procedures required.
Stormwater compliance training or certification preferred
OSHA 10 hr Construction Safety Awareness Training preferred 
EIT or CHMT preferred.
Demonstrated experience in ground water sampling at a CERCLA, RCRA, or State Superfund Site preferred.
