00675: Resident Engineer
Office Location:NY - New York

The Resident Engineer will be a part of our CE&M team, and will be responsible for construction management and field services on municipal, commercial or industrial facilities. Other responsibilities would include on-site observation and coordination with the client and contractor representatives, conducting construction progress meetings, as well as reviewing schedules and progress of work. We are seeking a candidate with the following qualifications and skills:


  • Oversee engineering services for construction services for client in field office, studies, design and office services during construction
  • Monitoring of construction contractor progress, use of materials, installation of approved equipment and piping and schedule materials testing
  • Respond to contractor’s requests for interpretations as well as evaluate contractor’s suggestions for minor changes to contract requirements; review contractor’s progress schedules, certificates and operations and maintenance manuals
  • Document construction progress through reports; conduct monthly progress meeting and prepare meeting summaries; maintain project files and prepare and process change orders


Education: minimum Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
Experience: 10-15 years in construction management, field engineering or resident engineering

Certification: PE required, CCM/CMIT preferred


  • Strong electrical experience or background
  • Independent worker capable of exercising independent judgment and evaluation.
  • Excellent organization and documentation skills.
  • Ability to read and understand critical path method (CPM) schedules.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and quality control procedures associated with concrete, electrical systems, mechanical systems and other construction materials.
  • Knowledge of construction management information systems/databases; proficient in Primavera P6 Contract Management Software.


  • Leads meetings and resolves conflict.
  • Directs and provides coaching to the project team in ensuring construction quality, schedule, and cost performance, or monitoring thereof in agency roles.
  • Works proactively with the project team to drive the project to completion through problem solving and partnering.


  • An individual of unquestioned integrity, possessing strong interpersonal skills and a sense of urgency.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative and fast paced construction environment
