00964: Project Accountant

The Project Accountant will be responsible for ownership of their assigned projects and performing intermediate level accounting duties from start to close of projects. In addition, the Project Accountant will monitor budgets, review revenue and project profitability of assigned projects.  Accuracy and timeliness in invoicing according to client terms and format, monitor aged receivables, timeliness in payment to subconsultants and final close outs of assigned projects.  The Project Accountant will report to the Project Accounting Manager.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Register projects with budgets following firm’s guidelines.  
  • Ensure all documents are complete. 
  • Communicate with project managers when questions arise.
  • Monitor budgets, review revenue and profitability of all assigned projects. 
  • Communicate with PM, PD, and management team if issues occur.
  • Prepare draft and final invoices on time. 
  • Monitor payment status of unpaid invoices.  
  • Notify accounts payable with payment to subcontractors are due.
  • Prepare and deliver mid-project reviews for discussion in Monday meetings.
  • Prepare close-out of the projects in a timely manner.
  • Assist with audit requests by providing and/or reviewing supporting documentation.
  • Assist others with project data, project inquiries and project reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Minimum Associate degree in Accounting
Experience:  Minimum 8-10 years of billing experience in the professional service industry; proficient in Excel is required; familiarity with Deltek/Costpoint accounting system is a plus.
