01054: Project Engineer
Office Location:IN - Indianapolis
  

We seek a Project Engineer/Project Manager to support project teams in the planning, design and construction services of wastewater collection, pumping, and treatment projects for municipal clients in Louisville and Northern Kentucky.  The successful candidate will be based in Louisville but will work under the direction of the Project and Client Managers as part of the Greeley and Hansen’s Indianapolis Office.  The candidate will lead teams of engineers and technicians in delivering projects and task orders and will have direct interaction with the client’s Kentucky-based project staff.

As part of subsequent training, professional development and career progression, this role will have opportunities for increasing responsibility including project management and client management contributing to the firm’s business development efforts.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The successful candidate will be tasked with managing preparation of studies, design and/or construction documents for selected projects and task orders with various clients.
  • The candidate will be responsible for water and wastewater consulting for complex assignments including preparation of design specifications and drawings, bid packages, engineering cost estimates, statement of works, hydraulic and hydrologic calculations, utility plans, technical specifications, engineering studies, task proposal and requests for proposals.
  • Participate in assignments as a member of a team, or a lead role in particular areas of water and wastewater expertise, including mentoring junior staff on design and consulting.
  • Review of water and wastewater design work and engineering reports prepared by others.
  • Field investigations, condition assessment and asset management of existing stormwater and wastewater facilities, including construction observations.
  • Attend meetings and present project deliverables to clients.
  • Participate in local/regional business pursuits and positioning activities on future projects.
  • Actively participate in professional societies and associations to continue to maintain and improve brand image of Greeley and Hansen

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: B.S. degree in Civil/Environmental is required. 
  • Experience: 5-10 years of experience in water and wastewater engineering consulting performing planning, studies, design and construction services for municipal clients.
  • Certifications, Licenses: Professional Engineer license is required.


SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

  • Strong communication and technical writing skills.
  • Fundamental understanding of water and wastewater infrastructure.
  • Experience in the preparation of water and wastewater contract documents, including drawings and specifications for water distribution and sewer collection systems and water/wastewater treatment plants.
  • Experience in the study and design of water and sewers, including preparation of hydraulic design calculations and coordination of hydraulic modeling and asset management.
  • Experience in site design associated with urban infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with asset management concepts, including asset inventory, condition assessment, risk-based project prioritization, and capital improvement planning.
  • Experience working with CAD, GIS and other databases and utilizing MS Excel/MS Access and or other software tools to analyze data to derive meaningful insights.
